I'm looking to set up a cache outside of my house filled with stuff. I live in the city so I do have worries that there will be a fire that destroys the house. This has made me want to put together a safe guard in case this was to happen. I'd like to get a 55 gallon drum, bury it outside, and put my best gear inside as well as some money. My problem is that I don't know how well it'll be protected against the heat and water while there. I've seen what neighborhood fires can do to a house next to it, and the farthest point from my house is 12'. What do you suggest? Should I store it someplace else or would this work? Give me your advice please.
