Fiance was a member for many years at a remote 4,000 acre hunt club, with about 40-ish people, the vast majority of whom he has known for years. There are about a dozen old hunting campers there year round.
The area is about 90 minutes drive from any major city, about 4 hours inland from our primary residence on the coast of the Carolinas. At the hunt club, once you leave paved roads, it's a couple of miles of 4wd dirt roads with a couple of locked gates. It would be a very difficult place to just happen across if you didn't already know it was there, and without a 4wd vehicle you aren't making it in easily, either. It's a foothills/semi-mountainous region. Water wouldn't be a problem there, nor would firewood.
Our primary plan is to bug in, and resources don't currently allow for purchase of a separate property or building a bug out lodge. I'm pondering the usefulness of a hunt club membership and a camper as a potential bug out site. Any thoughts?
