Only One Plate Carrier, My final pick: LBT MAS Grey 6094 Quick Releasable Underway

I originally found this site in a search years ago. You were discussing a Plate Carrier I also had. Yours was setup way differently than all of mine.

After finding the lost link to the site and password. I thought some of you would be interested in which Plate Carrier has become my main focus.

Colors and rigs. From OD and Back to OD, well almost.

When I decided to modernize. I started cheap. compartmentalized:

Soft Armor Vest + Hard Plate Carrier + ALICE, H or Tac Vests + Holsters: shoulder, belt or UM84 drop leg. Each rig was setup for one primary arm. So almost everything had its own rig, that would slip over the armor. Simple. So I thought and liked.

The next move came, by switching everything to the LBT-6094's. Multiple 6094's setup Light, Medium and Heavy, for a number of arms.

The LBT CT and other branded Khaki colors seemed to be priced cheaper and more suited to public use at ranges, etc. Decided to make that a primary color.

Then LBT discontinued the CT color. To some it is an oop collectable. Prices increased. Other branded khaki gear still remained priced low so things were not too bad.

With the advent of the LBT releasable variants. These became the new primaries.

Given our outdoor use locations around the country. Where there are long coast lines, many rivers, streams, etc., and for any other location. A release, is a beneficial and potentially life saving feature. If you need to wear a Plate Carrier, release system is an essential component. This realization rendered much of what I have, obsolete and dangerous to wear.

I am trying to part with everything, over time, to focus on the LBT Releasable Underway, as the best all round use platform.

Will I spread out these 6094's into light, medium and heavy, for each arm? Make each one multi use for as many arms as possible? Or go with one light is right for anytime every time?

I am focusing on the latter. This often results in an unrealistic setup, to cover a wide array of arms on the Plate Carrier. The handgun pouches should accommodate 9mm carbines, long and short handgun mags.

The carbine mags should cover more than one type: AK, AR, etc. As much as we can. Still a long way to go. We do not like taco mag carriers.

If I did not have to also accommodate 9mm carbines. I would remove both 9mm multi use single mag pouches. Since a single handgun mag pouch can go to the belt.

On the range setups, I prefer at least one SAW pouch to carry frequently forgotten items. Such as batteries, hearing and eye protection. In this manner, at minimum, I am setup to also move about and use what others have in our firing areas. Even without gear bags.

Work in progress. I plan to keep the cummerbund as clear as possible. So just about everything must go.

The knife I like is priced well beyond my means. On economy mode. As you can see, I do not like to pay more than about $20 for a disposable knife, so maybe I will be getting a Glock version on sale. I need a new good strap cutter too.

At the rear of the .223 mag catch at top center of carrier is the release cord coming out of the shoulder pad. The carrier also has additional mesh panels to accommodate removable foam panels. Mesh panel is visible alongside coca cola can.

Though they look very nice on the Million Dollar Operators posted on their IG accounts and displayed in their books. I am not into quick change front and rear panels. Since fixed sewn pouches are often not compatible with what I am using and inefficient in their placement, for my low level needs. Whenever possible as $'s allow, I like to utilize whole spare carriers.

For our private use, these Releasable Underway versions are built differently and more comfortable to wear, than the non releasable versions I have.

On the older non releasable 6094, I could remove the cummerbund and convert it into a two piece plate carrier for summer and more low profile use.

Not being a gear expert, I have not yet figured our how to convert these Releasable Underways in the same manner.

As to selecting the right LBT ESAPI cut size. Some are wanting a larger plate for the rear and are buying two carriers for a conversion. I on the other hand am rethinking my past preferred size selections, of having both Large and XL ESAPI size carriers. If I could narrow down the size to just one, I would get multiples of only that size. Smaller Large plates will give me greater mobility.
It will be interesting to see what each of you have decided.

I have gravitated back to a OD like color. The LBT MAS Grey seems like a good base color for private use. Since it does not appear too pale green like the RG and OD, used by SWAT and other LE or official users in our areas.

I hope to complete my LBT MAS Grey kit list, before LBT discontinues or restricts the color again. Just the Plate Carrier and 50 or 70 oz Hydration kit would satisfy me. The Admin and possibly the Mag Inserts might interest me for an added minimum.

I should be having a nice LBT MAS Grey Holster coming any week now. Along with the matching Plate Carrier and some kit down the road, soon, hopefully. So I can begin all over again.

Some links to a private not for profit activity displaying some photos of the plate carrier.

P/S Don't tell anyone, but I often find my self trying to track down our gear, we part with in the past.
