I have taken a small engine class about 20 years ago and that is the extent of my education on engines. While I did very well in the class I had zero interest at the time. I have begun to take a great interest in all things motor vehicle-related. I want to start learning about my new interest. I would like to be able to work on my own cars/trucks/ATV's and so on. I would also like to understand the inner workings of these machines and I am more interested in older models than new but they are all interesting in their own right.
I want to start at the beginning as I really know very little. So if anyone has book recommendations for someone starting out as a petrol head I would appreciate it. Should I get some mechanic textbooks used at say trade schools? I also would like recommendations for history books on the subject as well after all you have to know where you came from to know where you are going right?
Thank you all for any help you can provide!
