Looking for build ideas: Another M14

I have a few, but there are so many to choose from, Im having a hard time deciding as to which one...lol

A little background info: I have several already. Spent decades at this via this type of rifle alone. ( SAI, FultonArmory, a couple of LRBs, and a few Polys/ Norcs. ). Have also wrung out what I could using M14 service rifles in 5 different configurations at work.

Here is a small list of what I am not interested in because the below list doesn't meet my requirements/ intended use/ purpose.

22inch and 16 inch bbls in any contour

Mall ninja stocks, or stocks with bedding

Unitized gas systems

Receivers that omit the org iron sights

Adjustable gas plugs

Proprietary parts / components that will not interchange with any other rifles I have at current time

Note: Budget cap for this project = enough.

Note: In short.....this will end up as a virtual twin build, as I like having multiples. ( My version of the M21A5 essentially)

Ideas:

1. A " from the bare receiver up" build. ( I would really like to evaluate the Bula M21 DMR up again my LRB M25, as well as some of thier components) However, this would also be an expensive route, and to some extent, UN warranted, as I have multiple components stocked for several builds already. ( Complete trigger groups already worked up by SEI, 2 of thier warfighter gas systems, niw TRW bolts, more oprods than I care to count, a closet full of stocks, handguards, rear sight assemblies, enough springs to make a box spring mattress, over 600 20rd SS mags still in the wrap, and about the same number in 60s era M14 mags.

2. I have an all TRW SAI M1A-A1 ( preban) Bush rifle as a possible candidate for this project. This would be by far the lower cost route to take. Im not a collector, so nostalgia/ historic examples don't apply in this case. ( Besides....I have more than one of these specific boom sticks which are made up with exact same components.)...IE...identical twins.

Note: Since this receiver is not the type which utilizes an integrated optics mount, I would use the ARMS 18 instead. The rifle will end up seeing use as a night hog slayer, so I will use the gen2 version in place of the gen1. ( The solid rail works a tad better with the thermal scopes we use...vs the split rail.)

Now for a few things Im still on the fence about.....

1. Barrels: I wanna try something different here. Length will be 18/ 18.5, with a 1/10 twist. 4140 or 4150 ord grade CMV. . Cant decide on exacts after that...lol.

1. Faxon: Although they do produce M14 barrels, at current time...they dont make one in the length Im lookin for.....or this thread would not have been typed up.

2. SEI in std or med contour

3. Wolfe ( Same as above)

Yup. Cant decide , and Cant decide as to std or med contour either.

Medium weight tubes add 1lbs in weight at minimum....too include the Wolfe fluted cl tube, but are said to produce accurate sustained fire vs the standard contour. (From personal experience, the " as light as you can go" Criterion cl tubes aren't all that shabby in this department)

Note: In the case of this build, chrome lined tubes are not a mandatory thing either.

Pics below show the possible " candidate" as with number 2 above. ( Rifle without magazine in 2nd pic)

Thoughts?
