Lightwave LED Flashlights

Default Lightwave LED Flashlights

Has anyone owned or had a bad experience with Lightwave LED flashlights. I purchased a Lightwave D cell LED flashlight many years ago thinking it would be good for emergencies. My first problem was leaking D cells and it was the only flashlight in the house that ever had the problem. Finally it leaked enough to destroy the printed circuit board that the LEDs were mounted in. However I managed to clean the board enough to get some LEDs to light. However it kept on destroying batteries so I began to suspect the flashlight was somehow the cause. I took it out a few days ago to check the batteries and the flashlight fell apart, the whole case (heavy black plastic) was soft and sticky and the head was broken just from the tension on the threads. I am beginning to think it was made of some weird plastic that out gassed destroying the batteries and finally left the plastic degraded. Lightwave is now apparently no longer in business, maybe for good reason.
