In a way, that's probably correct. Right now, FB sells the data mined to advertisers. It's how FB makes money. Users just create an account and pay nothing for use of that platform.
FB is a business; they have to make money to run it. So it makes sense. Either the users pay for use of the site; or they need to allow FB to sell data. One way or another, FB can't operate without making money. Interesting dilemma for users.
