Microwave Question

There's another thread that slightly touches on microwaves, but I didn't want to derail that discussion with my own question, so I'm putting this one up as a separate thread.

One thing I wonder about with a microwave box as a Faraday cage is that it has a power cable leading into it, which connects to the magnetron inside the box itself. Even without being plugged in, wouldn't these carry an EMP straight into the shielded chamber of the box?

Putting a cell phone inside and there being no signal doesn't test whether the wiring might be a super highway to the chamber of a pulse.

Would cutting the power cable not be enough to prevent such a pulse getting through?
