An Amazing Adoption Praise!

We see lots of prayer requests on here (nothing wrong with that), but I wanted to post a huge praise and answer to prayer!

A guy I know, two or three years ago his family hosted a boy from the Ukraine. The kid lives in an orphanage and has no family.

They fell in love with him and hosted him again, and then wanted to adopt him. The kid, of course, was all for it.

The timing was getting close... they are only adoptable up to a certain age, and he was getting close. Once he reaches that age, basically he's released from the orphanage and is on his own. Most people just end up finding just enough work to buy booze and live on the streets. It's a very sad existence.

So they worked hard to meet the deadlines. It's very costly to adopt, it would require 3 trips to the Ukraine, as well as having someone from there come to their home to look around. I think the total estimated cost was over $40,000.

Their church and community banded together and had a huge charity dinner and auction, and between that and a Go Fund Me page they were able to raise about 2/3 of that.

They made a private Facebook group where they posted pictures and stuff from their trips. Some of them were really sad.

One that really stood out to me was one he posted of at the orphanage, there were lots of stray dogs and cats outside. The little kids loved the animals, but the older kids almost seemed to ignore them. And then he said he wondered if having gone so long without any love causes you to stop loving? Broke my heart, that did.

He said the director of the orphanage told him that she was so glad they were taking him... he was such a nice boy and he had no hope there. Most of them do not.

They had some difficulties, including paperwork getting lost, but today was their last day in court, and he is officially their son.

It's not appropriate for me to post the picture here, but I have never seen a bigger smile on a kid's face!

I just thought I'd share this with you! It made my day!

That is part of the Gospel in action - finding the helpless and hopeless and giving them hope!

It breaks my heart thinking of all those other kids without families. As a teen I went on a missions trip to Chile, and we went to an orphanage, and that was so difficult. All the kids were just hugging you and so glad that someone was there. I had a hard time having to leave.
