I suspect the hollow point ammunition is actually called OTM, or, Open Tipped Match ammunition. OTM is a hollow point bullet that does not actually expand. It's design to put most of the weight toward the rear of the bullet to control the yaw during flight. This would be similar to the MK262 Mod 0 / Mod 1 and MK318 ammo which is now general issue.
I recently had the opportunity to examine the commercial equivalent of the M17. It's actually a very nice weapon. I'm not sure though how it will change combat other than it is easier to manage than the M9.
Foxnews says ' new XM17 pistol changing moderncombat?!?!
