Commonwealth Games 2018

Most people have probably never heard of this, but there's an event I came across that happens every four years called the Commonwealth Games, and is happening right now on the Gold Coast in Australia.

These are comparable to the Olympic Games, except the nations involved are all a part of the Commonwealth of Nations [or used to be], which is 53 nations, although there are 71 teams. Evidently this is because there are some nations that have separate smaller nation status, so [for example] England and Wales field separate teams.

I didn't have much luck in finding a useful video because they keep changing, but this one about the Gold Coast may interest some.

And why isn't America in the games? As I've heard it, the US is probably eligible, having once been connected to Britain. But as I've been told, America hasn't asked.
