Has anyone built their own DIY pack?

I can't seem to find a pack that I actually want. I tried searching, but didn't find any related threads, so forgive me if it's a repeat.

I'm looking for something to fill the "grey man" concept. Everything marketed to preppers is loaded with MOLLE, which just screams that you are part of a certain category. And really, no-one actually uses exterior molle for more than their carabener that sits there... Milsurp packs do the same thing. Civilian packs have branding categorize you into various other groups.

Basically I want a compression sack made of 1000d cordura, with shoulder straps, subdued colors, no logos, no identity. The pack would be shaped to keep it lower profile on your back. One large pouch, with two straps around the body to compress, two straps over the top to tie down, two straps under the bottom for sleeping pad, etc. It's really quite simple. Possibly splurge for bottle holders on both sides. Possibly splurge for some slices of foam on the back for comfort. Shoulder straps would be cordura coated foam. Building materials would maybe run 30$, error on the high side, lets say 50$.

I guess this idea is a cross between old Jansport bags with newer compression sacks. Maybe there is something out there like this, let me know.

Have you built your perfect pack yet?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
