Swollen/sticky door

My front door is wooden, and we sanded/scraped loose paint in preparation of repaintingthen it rained and it seems my door absorbed water and now it's very difficult to open or close it. I've tried sanding the edge, trimming it with a drawknife but I'm wary about removing too much wood.

I'm nearly convinced the only way to fix it is to pull the door off the hinges and bring it inside near the stove to draw off some moisture and repaint it.

And tips or tricks from anyone?
