I have a set of sharping rods from AG russle knives. I cant seem to get my knives very sharp with these. I have tried it slow, fast, hard, light. My rods are mostly black now, do they need cleaned off to sharpen well? My blades arent really damaged or rough, so they shouldn't need much more than a rod to touch them up, I would think. I want them to cut paper like new. Any pointers?
