Benchmade 940-2 G10 for SD purpose?

my working hours are such that i return home at 1 am or 2 am in NY subways which are full of shady people and drug fiends and people asking for a dollar.

i need a knife usually for opening boxes of packaged food cans and occassionaly to chop up onions or slice chicken breast when cooking at friends places and sometimes to just slice salami or cheese or peel fruits on road trips etc.

Now i had my knife BM grip stolen recently and looking for a replacement.

i like Benchmade 940 as its more sleek..its also a slightly less threatening looking knife which makes me wonder if it ever came to a point where i had no choice but to defend, how useful it is as compared to BM grip.

in an ideal world i would like to own a firearm and exercise my right to ownership but its next to impossible in nyc to even own a bb gun.
