Just saw new Rem 700, I won't be buying one

Neighbor called and wanted to come down and sight in his deer rifles on my range and I said sure.

He gets out with a new design 700 and the stock is split about four inches at the left side at rear of receiver.

I asked what happened and he was walking back from his stand with it slung over his shoulder and the front sling swivel came out of the stock (wood) and muzzle hit the ground and split the stock! ! ! !

I pulled it down and for years the front sling swivel was screwed into wood and this design is totally different. If you has seen the plastic things you push through dry wall and then run a screw in to hang pictures is the closest I can come to describing this disaster.

I got to look at the new trigger and it has been redesigned and the pull was so so and a bit on the heavy side.

He called the factory about the sling swivel coming out and they told him it was out of warranty.

I knew right then if I ever got one it would be getting a Uncle Mikes MILSPEC sling swivel for it quick

My friend is disabled and doesn't have lots of money so I am looking around for a heavy Hogue stock for him but all I can find on ebay cheap are the short actions. Not one for long actions was listed in the same price range.
