Stockpiling food is a dead end

jeeze kev......... talk about trolling lol!

but ill bite.

Not everyone preps for the end of time. I personally do not see that happening, but that's me. 2 weeks worth of food would have been a life saver in new Orleans during Katrina, not to mention a couple cases of water.

Then there was that so called supper storm that hit the northeast...... you know some dead end roads are really really long!

I know you know but I am going to rebut your "few hens" statement.

one person to eat what I would consider reasonably would need to slaughter 52 chickens a year. OK so maybe I have an exuberante lifestyle. Lets say one a month, that is still 12 a year. Then you need the chickens to lay the eggs to eat and hatch. So lets figure 24 chickens? Now what are you going to do for food for those 24 chickens? And that's only breakfast and 1 meal a month.

Fruit trees are great! I have many! But they do not provide any type of "survival food". Fruit trees bare fruit for a very limited amount of time and bare a finite amount of fruit. One would need for the end of the world to come about during the late summer fall when the fruit was ripe to get much out of it and if you didn't have a small grove of each you wouldn't have much to put up!

It takes 2 acres to grow enough food for one person. That is a lot of weeding to do, a lot of watering to do and a lot of harvesting to do ALONG with a lot of preserving. This all assumes you have an adequate supply of suger and salt, both very very hard to "grow".

This is the reasons communities developed, I will grow corn, you grow taters, some one else can grow suger cane. while tome **** and harry grow cows, chickens and pigs. Its a work together kinda thing.

The thing is, if the end of the world takes place tomorrow, these "communities are not just going to pop up overnight. It may take years for that to happen AND that, I believe is what most of us prep for.

PS, no I didn't watch the movie.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
