how do you organize your preps?

I'm going to be making some wood shelving in my basement. 7'x14'x2ft deep and 7'x8'x2' wood shelving that I will be making out of 2x4 and plywood. how do you organize and keep the max amount of stuff in the smallest area?

I'm thinking 3 or 4 shelves 5gal buckets on the bottom, ?unknown? on second shelf and canning jars on top. the 5gal bucket shelf will be the height of a bucket plus a few inches and the canning jar shelf will fit half gallon jars.
