Kind of funny, people that live in areas with very few ticks get all freaked out when they end up with one. They get the alcohol, tweezers, maybe gloves etc...and make a big production out of removing them. Once you live in an area with a LOT of ticks that changes. You quickly learn to just grab them and pull them straight out, when I first moved into a heavy tick region and I saw my vet do that it kind of freaked me out, but I quickly started doing it too.
Fact is you will get bit by a lot of baby ticks and never realize it happened. They are often the size of a fleck of pepper, they feed then detach and move on, so don't freak out about the odd one that you DO realize you have (unless the area gets red/infected, then freak out).
Also be very aware of any achy joints/flu like symptoms, if you get a tick borne disease you need to treat it with doxycycline ASAP! If you wait a week or two it can become chronic (or even kill you) and as mentioned you may never realize you were bitten.
