Bugging out Where to? What's Next?

Hi Folks,

I'm partway through reading Patriots by James Wesley Rawles, and I'm coming to quickly realize that unless I've got a pretty well stocked and defended place to arrive after bugging out, I'm going to be pretty screwed.

It is not economically feasible for me to leave my home and move to the country, although I do live on the outskirts of a city in a small subdivision in New Brunswick, Canada. Consequently our population density is low, but I don't have much land to work with. Can imagine that an area like where I live would be quickly targeted by outmigrants from the city centre during a crisis, so I think that the ability to leave is prudent.

What are you folks doing? There must be others like myself who recognize the need to be ready to leave and get away from the crazy in the event of a crisis, but have no specific plan yet? Should I work to buy some rural land? Should I just bury some caches on seldom accessed public land, and make plans to camp out in an area like this?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and apologies in advance if this has already been dealt with in a previous thread. I've been a member for a while, but the world situation has only recently gotten me thinking more seriously about these considerations.
