In The spring I'll be looking for a woodstove for my building:
40x40
14 foot walls (lots of air to heat)
It's offgrid, so blowers etc are not options. I'll be using the "fans" in The stove pipe. I've lived with a woodstove, and it makes a HUGE difference. (forget the name, the heat acts as its own blower)
Zone 6, it gets down below zero. But not for too long.
I'd like to be able to get it into the 70's...
Now:
Everything will be open, (which will with the high cealings require a larger stove) except for the side away from the stove. I'll likely put a smaller wood stove in those rooms. (think apartment in a shop building along one side, 40x12)
I'd LIKE TO have it set up for hot water, but if nothing else I can run a coil around the pipe.
What I DO WANT/need is a oven.
But I kinda doubt that's typical in larger stoves.
Or the older heat/cooking stoves heating that much space.
(the problem to solve...)
Propane backup/convinance... But want the wood to be enough.
Ideas? Thinking of several things. Hate to do 2 stoves, I'd really Hate the stove inthe bedrooms to be used for baking.... Just not convinant.
Anybody got a "stove specs page" or something... Not much discussion of these.
Thought you people up in Yankee land might have some good input.
