Buying survival items directly from China

In case you haven't noticed, many of the survival items that are being sold on the internet and at your local stores are actually private label.

Basically, a person or company wanting to make a profit finds a plain, unbranded item that's being offered by a Chinese vendor, prints their logo on it and sells it for a huge markup to foreign buyers.

Thanks to the internet, it's possible for you to go around these clever entrepreneurs and purchase directly from China.

Recently, I was getting ready to buy fire starters that are being sold on Amazon for $7.95 a piece.

Here's the link to the item on Amazon:

After doing a little research, I realized that I could buy those exact same fire starters directly from China for $2.64 a piece (just without the pretty logo).

Better yet, the Chinese vendor is selling these items on Ebay which means my transaction is backed by Ebay and Paypal.

So I placed an order for 18 units which comes out to $47.52 total with free shipping.

Here's the link to the Ebay auction:

If I had purchased 18 units from the Amazon vendor at $7.95 a piece, my total would have come out to $143.10 which is $95.58 more.

I just received my order in the mail today and everything is in good order.

All items are in great condition and it took less than 2 weeks to ship them from Shenzhen, China to Clearwater, Florida in the United States.

According to Google, the distance between the two cities is 14,106 km (8,765 miles).

Just remember, if you buy directly from China, make sure that you're dealing with a large, reputable seller and try to do the transaction on Ebay in case something goes wrong.

A good Chinese vendor will have a high feedback rating and provide you with a real tracking number which should be updated ever few days.
