I won't go into brands( though some of them are pretty major) but some things which seemed glaringly crazy were all the excess pouches/compartments and mesh dividers, jingling zipper tabs, exposed skyfacing zippers and double zippers everywhere which let rain in the gaps, and excess molle on every surface like they were worried it would lose tactical status if there were any bare surfaces left on it.Molle for the record also reduces water resistance, adds weight and the stitching is the first place to rot long term.
What happened to basic top opening overhanging lid pouches that shed water, side facing single zippers and zipper covers? Also no pack is completely waterproof but its a lot easier to drybag line 1-2 main compartments rather than 6!
Seems to be a big market for less water resistant, heavier weight and more cumbersome items than we had 20 years ago, and I guess its tacticool guys buying into it.
Short rant about tacticool packs
