About 6 months ago I was at a local gun show and they had 40-round AR mags for a good price, I think it was $12 each. I bought two, both brand name Promag. I knew of Promag but had never bought any of their products. Most of my AR mags are either aluminum or Magpul. The first thing I noticed was the top of the Promags had burs on the edges that would catch the tip of the bullet when it tried to feed. But that problem was nowhere near as concerning as what just happened today. I was doing some ammo organizing and one of my duffel bags is loaded with about 20 AR mags, all loaded. When I looked in there there were 11 rounds sitting loose in the bottom of the bag. I thought that was strange because I NEVER leave loose rounds laying anywhere. And I live alone so there is nobody else to blame. LOL. I took the loose rounds out of the bag and went about doing some other things. About 5 minutes later I hear a sound coming from the bag and I knew what it was instantly, but could not believe I heard it. Looked in the bag and sure enough, one of the 40-round Promags ejected 10 more rounds on its own. Like it just puked them out. I took the rest of the rounds out of the magazine and sure enough, it was missing 21 rounds, the same amount I found in the bag. I'm 47 years old and have been around guns my whole life, but have never seen this or even heard of it! I will stick to Magpul magazines from now on.
No more Promags for me
