My name is Phil and I survived economic collapse. Survival is a kind of tradition in our family. My great-grandfather survived the First and Second World War, with a bonus between them – the Great Depression! The man was smart enough to understand that history often repeats itself, and that is how he made it imperative for all of us to know very well all of those things that you guys here, in North America, call 'survival skills'.
The economic collapse I personally lived through happened right after the Berlin wall was torn down and Eastern Europe's communist regimes crumbled down because of their own inefficency. I saw it all: inflation and rising food prices, people loosing their homes and becoming homeless after leading productive lifes for many, many years, food lines, empty stores shelves (twice – once in 1991, then again in 1997, when we had an annual inflation rate of 1080%), crime rates rising, deflation and crash of the real estate market (which then repeated itself after my native country joined the EU), people homesteading and price hunting to survive.
I immigrated years ago to North America to live free... And guess what! Around 2008, I started to detect the same symptomes of upcoming economic crash here too!!! I guess I am not going to live the American dream in the near future, but at least I can share my experience – how to survive an economic collapse. I couldn't believe that there are soooooooooo many people who warn about it, but, at the same time, there is an almost complete black-out about the most important thing, which is how to LIVE (yes, living for 10, 20 or 30 years) during a long-term economic depression. There are many stupid movies and reality shows that often give totaly wrong ideas about what is economic SHTF and how to survive it! I wrote a book, to tell my story, and as a warning and a practical guide, if anybody is interested. The book is called “Surviving Tough Times” and is available on Amazon:
If, however, you are more of a visal type and you don't really have time to read, you can check out my chanel that I recently started, The Tough Times channel on YouTube:
