Any Good Reason for a 24" Barrel AR?

PSA has a nice upper today with 24" Melonited barrel and 15" lightweight Keymod rail for $329. I'm intrigued by the thought of having a longer-barreled AR, but 24" is awfully long. In my minimal research, 20 inches seems to be where muzzle velocity gains end for 5.56.

What thinkest thou?
