open pollinated vegetable list

Where can I get a list of open pollinated vegetables? I do not see on most seed packets if they are hybrid or not. Example: Detroit Dark Red Beets I find on Heirloom & Open-Pollinated web sites and I also find them in retail stores packaged by major vendors. Are all Detroit Dark Red beets open-pollinated? If the seed pack does not say "hybrid" is it open-pollinated? Will someone please give this old man an education? I just got a new (10 yr old) 8 hp Troy-bilt to replace my old one (30+ yrs old) and I want to put in a late garden after not planting for 5+ yrs. Any information I can get will be greatly appreciated.
