Burglary that will freak you out

This really happened on burglary I worked once. Imagine waking up in bed staring at an extremely bright flashlight beam. Someone is in your room, feet from your bed, staring at you from behind the bright light!

You can't see anything but are fully exposed. You have no idea who is behind the light. You don't say anything for a second, in shock. The light doesn't move. Finally you muster, "What do you want?" After a pause the light backs up slowly, out of the room, and is gone. You go down stairs after the police arrive and your stuff has been gone through.

Can you imagine?
