Brief lost, but long term? Probably not.

Years for me using multiple firearms/weapons (M9 up to M2) without hearing protection and I have some damage in one side, but never from a single encounter like that. A few times I was a little auditory numb after, but it usually went away (until the year/day it didn't!)
