Why do so many Americans not vote?

Adults in this country are so disconnected from politics that the overwhelming majority cannot name the Vice President, regardless of who the President is. They are even more disconnected from their House and Senate representatives.

I was one of those people for the first 35 years of my life. Growing up in Chicago, I mistrusted politicians because there were no honest politicians in Chicago. Everyone in politics was part of the "Democrat machine" where graft and corruption were the norm. That undoubtedly still holds true today.

Even though I didn't vote, I'm pretty sure my vote was tallied just like those of all my dead relatives.

With Democrats in charge of everything the voter turnout in Chicago is actually pretty good. In 2016, they registered 14,000 more votes than voters.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
