More food questions

Hey guys, I have a couple of food questions here, if anyone could help me it would be great.
1. I see a lot of people storing rice and beans in mylar bags, with oxygen absorvers, I get what are they doing, but when I search for them I see there are different sizes, depending on how much air is left in the bag, and the bigger the volume the more expensive they are, the question is, could I vacuum seal this bags (thinking on using half a gallon and pint size mylar bags from usaemergencysupply) in order to use just a 100 cc O2 absorber per bag, or do I have to use the recommendation on their website?

2. I live in a south american country, with a really bad international food supply, and right now I don' have the time to home make my own canned food. Is it way too crazy to save beans, rice, MH freeze dried food (there is people selling it) and spam, and from that start with flour, oat and olive oil ?. For us is really hard to get some of the products you base your food storage from, so are this options crazy?

Any advices here, are well recieved, maybe somebody could give me more ideas to store meat, different from spam or freeze dried, thanks.
