Trump v. Sanders? Could a credible third party be coming?

While tonight's New Hampshire Primary results should not be so surprising, it may be telling of the mood setting into the nation on both sides. The GOP base that are completely dis-satisfied with their elected officials may not be exclusive to just the GOP as widely reported by MSM. It looks the DNC maybe having a similar problem. This appears to be the year of the outsider even if the insiders survive the close call. There will always be someone to blame and be upset with. In 2020, there will still be dis-satisfied voters. We maybe witnessing the roots being formed of the political outsider for years to come.

For years people have scoffed at the viability of a third party and how this would steal votes from primarily the Republicans. Well, I beg the question. What would a Trump v. Sanders general election look like? Heck what would a Cruz v. Sanders general election look like? I cannot remember the last time there was such a polarizing opposite in a general election. In 2012, Romney was a center right moderate as best. We pretty much know where Obama was at. McCain is a classic RHINO with a strong foreign policy background. Bush again not too far right conservative even if he tried to privatize social security right before the market tanked lol (imagine that if he was successful). Kerry was a classic Democrat. Honestly, without yapping any further I really cannot recall when such an extreme polarizing general election has occurred. How conservative was Ronald Regan really? After all he did sign the immigration bill of 1986 which by all accounts was amnesty. Ok, let me get to the point.

I believe a Trump v. Sanders or even Cruz v. Sanders general election with a Sanders win will symbolize the prelude of the inevitable final break up of the Republican Party. Like a bitter domestically violent marriage something has got to give and finally end. I think if this scenario plays out then a credible third party will begin to manifest itself under a united more extreme right framework, while the muddy middle suck up many of those so called moderate Democrats. You would be surprised how many people vote Democrat because they are really voting against conservative rhetoric even if their personal values maybe more conservative. These type of voters often perceive the conservative movement as exclusive especially among Hispanics who share many common core values with conservatives, but don't vote that way.

I wonder what that would look like if we had three competitive political parties: The Liberal Progressives, The Compromising Moderates, and the Constitutional Conservatives. Will we be in a happier place or will we be just another UK?
