What's with the price of canned goods??

I've been trying to build a good sized pantry/emergency stash of canned goods we eat often. This basically consists of canned green beans, canned corn, and canned chili along with some other misc items.

Seems the prices of these few things have skyrocketed! I'm pretty sure I'm not just imagining it. Seems like just a year ago canned veggies were 3 for $1. Now the cheapest I can find is $0.58 per can so it doubled in a year?
Chili seemed like it used to be $0.50-$0.75 per can and now it's hard to find the cheap brands for under $1.50 per can.

Other staples in our house haven't gone up all that much. Breakfast cereal seems to have stayed pretty steady, milk has gone up a bit a couple years ago. Fresh eggs went up a bit then came down. I can still buy 5 dozen for $8.50. Would love to buy some powdered eggs since we don't have chickens but the price on #10 cans of eggs is still over priced.

Any shelf stable foods currently a good deal?

What's driving these crazy prices?
