humane hunting during SHTF

during a SHTF scenario, do you think hunting humanely would be a priority while hunting? for example, with a bow if you hit a deer in the spine it'll drop, but still twitch, if SHTF and you are hungry and in need of feed, would this be a bad thing to do?
