This one has a twist to it, but the bottom line is that a woman voluntarily in a man's home was asked about having sex and when she refused he took her home.
And the police are taking the complaint.
Now for the twist. The guy was in prison for a murder for 30 years that he swears he didn't do and the governor granted clemency on. Clemency isn't exactly a pardon but it either means the guy went overboard to prove he is a fully reformed man, or lawyers decided the original case looked really shaky and the government makes a "let's just forget all this" offer. Either way, the man been declared a person with full rights again and owes nothing more to society.
But even as that twist makes things complicated a bit, it still seems just asking for sex is now a crime.
I'm sure that after 30 years in prison he's not exactly a suave operating ladies man and it stands to reason he's pretty darn eager to have sex after 30 year lockup. But where is a coercion, kidnapping, groping without permission, or any act that forces himself upon her?
Maybe the news report doesn't offer all the details but it's hardly a sex predator that takes no for an answer and drives the woman home.
Has the US made the Sadie Hawkins Dance the law of the land now?
Forget it men, you can no longer show interest in a woman. You can be criminally investigated for asking now.
