Fixing Coleman Stove 5400 A 700

During this hurricane the power went out and I cooked exclusively on my coleman stove. It had been in the garage for a while and hadnt used it much over the past two years. However, it came in very handy during this last week or so.

After everything has passed and I am cleaning up I decided to clean the stove as I noticed the bottom of it was pretty dirty. To facilitate the cleaning I took off the stove part from the outer case by removing 4 screws that held the stove part to the case. It then slide right out and away from the gas valves on the front of the case. Easy.

I then cleaned everything out and reattached the stove to the case and screwed in the screws. As I was testing it I noticed that the hissing sound that would normally be there when you turn on the gas seemed much louder. As I light the stove with a lighter the left burner (the one closest to where the gas canister attached to the stove case, nothing would happen. I could hear the gas coming out but the burner would not light. The left burner light but the burner wooshed(for a lack of a better word) in a tall flame and the hole on the pipe that leads to the burner also spouted flames.

I have no idea what is going on with this thing. I put it back together exactly the way it was but it isnt working correctly. Any ideas?
