Formica, how hard is it to install?

Thinking about getting some formica to go over my kitchen countertops. They already have formica on them that is in excellent shape. I'd just like to update the look.

Anyone ever install it? I have a router and understand there is a laminate/formica bit you can buy to trim the edges and cut out a hole for the sink. I'd like to use a router.
