Help w log in & desktop mode

I’m hoping someone can help here—I already asked mods under Grievance section & got the ok to post my problem here. I’m on a iPhone 5s if that’s relevant & havdnt has any OS updates for at least a couple weeks if not longer.

Any advice will be very welcome.
Ok here’s what’s going on:
—if I try to sign in via regular SB home screen, the drop down menu then tells me to “sign in for more” after I’ve already done so & see the “Welcome back YC” message across the top of the screen. So tho I get the welcome back message, my user CP doesn’t show & it wants me to repeatedly sign in?? So I can’t get to PMs etc. and it’s like there’s a disconnect/loop when I try to exit enhanced mode (hard to read if I’m not in desktop mode). I select it, it acts like it would as far as loading bar filling but sends me right back to same screen (hope that makes sense)

— I *can* however, get into the site & login via old bookmarks (so far at least) and when it loads, it’s in desktop mode; I’m presuming bc that’s what it was in when I made the bookmark?

I checked to be sure safari accepts cookies & I haven’t made any changes to my phone settings. Interestingly, this only started happening around 5-6 days ago

—the only constant I’ve seen is that the pop up window to sign up for SB newsletter has been showing up during my login so I have to stop signing in, click the “x” to close that pop up & finish signing in, but that’s been happening for awhile now. Oh also since I joined, the “remember me” box has never worked when I’ve checked it; dunno if that’s relevant.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks for any/all ideas.
