Homemade yellowjacket trap. Very effective.

I recently saw a set up to kill hornets that looks like a keeper. I haven't tried it myself yet, but many swear by it. Just a couple of weeks ago the gal that runs that blog Rural Revolution did it and said it worked stupendous. You can look up in her past posts to find details.

The stuff that's in dog flea killer, the kind you squirt into their fur at the shoulders (fiprinol or something like that), mix a few drops with a little ball of hamburger (wear gloves) and put it in a paper cup. Then get the attractant chemical they put in hornet traps, put a bit on a cotton ball and put it right next to the cup (not IN the cup, but right next). These both can usually be bought at hardware stores.

The hornets smell the attractant, get some of the poisoned hamburger, and take it home to have a smorgasbord with the whole nest. Kills most of them by the next day. Will not kill bees because they aren't carnivorous.

I'd look it up for you for details, but I'm lazy and grumpy today.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
