Quail ...

Anyone here raise quail?

If so, I have some questions about winter housing for the little buggers. I only have 3 coveys of 7 birds each. I also have 4 chickens that are past their prime egg-laying wise and am fixing to send them to freezer camp. I'm wondering if I can put all the quail together, without having to deal with the roos fighting and tearing each other (and the hens) up, or if I'm better off just keeping everyone separated.

They all have more than a sq.ft./per bird now and that would not change. Plus, the chicken coop is big enough I can build a small platform to give them even more sq. footage and toss in some rabbit nest boxes turned on their sides for "holes" to hide in.

Will make my daily egg hunt a pain in the ass but give the birds a bit more natural habitat to live in. I'd really like it if they can function without extra heat but can rig something up if I need to.
