Someone said chocolate is the best prep, but RLY?!?

So a very respected authority on long-distance hiking said that chocolate is THE best hiking food, because it has so dense and lightweight energy. He uses it on his extreme distance hikes where any other food (rather than butter) would be too heavy.

However if I even try eating half a bar of chocolate on an empty growling stomach it does not get happy. I can eat chocolate after a meal, but if chocolate IS the meal then my stomach eventually gets diarrhea.

So although I agree with his reasoning that chocolate is extreme dense energy, I would imagine the last thing I want when running from SHTF is to have even a little diarrea stomach.

Is that just me?
Is it that he eats a higher quality chocolate than me?

I guess for me it's quite similar to butter, I can definitely eat butter on sandwhich, but if I spread too much butter on tiny crackers then I tend to get loose stomach and an uncomfortable feeling of my stomach full of melted oily butter. So my feeling is that it's not the ingridient itself that my stomach hates, it's the idea of being too submerged in oil, without any fiber to soak it in,

Let's block ads! (Why?)
