Really depends on what SHTF happens. If we have a bad earthquake you'll probably be able to tough it out for a few weeks before services are restored and supplies are brought in. If it's a full on collapse of society toughing it out isnt going to happen. If it's the latter you may want to consider bugging out. Without law and order the thugs and gangs will run wild and rule the area. You might want to get to know the Santa Monica and surrounding mountain areas. You also better learn some outdoors skills and buy some equipment.
I'm in Southern California but nowhere near LA. I have many different plans and strategies that depend on the situation. I suggest you develop a contingency plan like that as well.
