Absolutely ZERO Bug-Out Plans, and LOVIN' it!

When I first discovered this site, I became convinced of the imminent implosion of the universe and that anyone caught without a BOB was going to spontaneously combust so, in a panicked frenzy of purchase activity, I bought a dozen different types of packs, including ILBEs, etc and about $10k in "necessities" to fill them all, even though I could carry only one. I'm one of those ADHD/OCD types that can't do anything small, so I obsessed over what was the best "pack" to get and what to fill it with. 1,200 pounds of packs and stuff later, I came to the realization that -- wait a minute, WE'RE NOT BUGGING OUT!

All this reading up on BOBs, BOLs, and BOVs had me caught-up in the moment (something that happens with alarming frequency). We already live at our BOL. We ain't goin' nowhere. We have a farm in rural farm country with plenty of livestock (beef and dairy cattle, goats, hogs, turkeys, chickens, ducks), gardens, fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, honey bees, grapes galore, herbs everywhere, and >1,100 jars of preserved goodies my wife has canned over the last eight years -- all done without ever having a thought of "prepping." It's just what farmers do down here, and we adopted the lifestyle when we moved from NYC and literally "bought the farm." We have plenty of perpetual water sources on our property (springs, creeks, wells, ponds, etc), a good septic system, friendly, helpful neighbors, a "Deep South" gun culture, and now -- thanks to my SB-enabled neuroses -- enough medical supplies to open a small walk-in clinic. We're far enough away from major population centers to likely avoid potential forced evacuations, at an elevation that makes flooding all-but impossible, and while we do contend with the occasional tornado we have local relatives (also farmers) across town we can flee to if our house is ever transported to Oz, assuming we don't go with it. I have little fear that our Reptilian overlords will sterilize our fields with their dastardly Chemtrails or that they will round us up and stick us in a FEMA camp somewhere. Whoa Nellie! We certainly do have some "interesting" folks here at SB! I might could (a Southern expression) buy the possibility that JFK wasn't killed by Oswald, but I draw the line at holographic jetliners taking out buildings and Justin Bieber being an Illuminati secret mind-control agent.

Wow! I just went from BOBs to Bieber. That's my ADHD taking over. Sorry about that.

So, I guess the moral of my story is get out and go for a walk along the beach sometime. Enjoy what you've got while you got it. There are over 150,000 people that are not here today that were yesterday, and it'll happen all over again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. You're more likely to die of natural or accidental causes than from being without your BOB in SHTF.
