So i started looking into tricycles. In particular FAT TRIKES. Although i love the idea of a FAT TRIKE, my concern as a prepper came to thinking of parts.
I did an experiment. I walked 10 miles and it took me 3hrs 40min. with medium gear weight (30lb B.O.B.). I then traveled 10 miles with my trek bike (no back pack) and it took me 45min. So traveling with a bike is faster, less energy, can haul gear.
FAT TRIKES are some what new, they are expensive (depending on the brand you go with). And finding tires/parts in SHTF would be hard (atleast thats what i think).
REGULAR TRIKE- Chains/tubes/tires are all almost universal. Parts would be easier to find. Almost all households own a bike.
I started doing some research on trikes and i found a few on ebay going from $280-$350.
I then YT the trikes and found some videos. The biggest problem i found with Trikes is that people dont pay attention to the weight/load they put on the rear basket, causing the axle to bend, causing the life span of the trike to shorten.
So now i'm looking at getting a cargo trike.
any ideas or thoughts on this?
although a regular bike would do, one of the pros of a trike is that you have balance. Also, because of the rear basket you have the option of putting a small gas engine or turn it into an e-trike (electric tricycle).
Fat bike? What about a fat ......
