What to do with cut down southern cedar trees

Due to the presence of CAR (Cedar apple rust) I cut down all cedars that I encounter on my place. They are very usually small. Today I put one down that was 8 inches at the base and I wondered if I can make a post out of it. Does any one have a link or any information they offer on how to do that?
