I love my Zastava M77 PS (AK style .308) especially since CsSpecs came out with great (albeit a tad pricey) magazines.
Recently I stumbled across a CETME .308 Sporter that followed me home so I decided to take them out and shoot them side by side.
Both are capable rifles IMHO.
Although I like the sights better on the CETME, I shoot more accurately with the M77PS.
The stock CETME trigger is a bit gritty but usable.
The stock M77PS trigger (on mine anyway) is smooth and superior by far IMHO.
For magazine changing, the CETME is much smoother and always secure without any muss or fuss.
The M77PS requires a lot more practice and the magazines had to be custom fit.
Both feed flawlessly.
The M77 with the stock extended is about 41" long. Both are the same length (38") when the M77 has it stock at its shortest setting.
The CETME is a little more than 3/4 of a pound heavier.
Both have very manageable recoil but the I find the M77ps to be significantly less. Comparing with the M1A Scout Squad and the FN SCAR 17, the M1a has the most felt recoil followed by the CETME with the SCAR and the M77ps being a virtual tie.
