n00b question adding a Rail

So I want to add a VFG to the stock hand guard on my colt 6721. I have a wrist injury that gets aggravated holding *any* rifle the normal way. I've been holding my AR by the mag well and it's far better for my wrist, so I am thinking of adding a rail and getting a VFG.

My question is which brand/model rail will fit the stock hand guard on the colt?

Or do I need to change the hand guard too?

Suggestions welcome, the cheaper the better!
