Hi, I haven't posted much, but I'v read a lot on the forms. I'v beed wanting a m1a for long time. So I have read anything I have found on here, lots of very good information here, I'm looking at a Springfield Armory Walnut Scout Squad.I know the wood weights a little more, but I like it, it looks like what a rifle should look like, Is $1480.00 a good price ? would a red dot on the front rail work okay, or something else be better ? I don't want a big scope on, I want to keep it as compact as posable an keep the wt. down. I will use QD mount for when I don't want it. Or should I get the mount made my Springfield an use it like that ? Any other information or suggest would be helpful. Anything I'm not seeing or thinking of ? THANKS Jerry
