Glock recoil spring replacement

I have a few police trade-in 40 cal Glocks. I've been told that police trade-ins have usually not been fired many times, but I'm sure there are exceptions, and they all look the same to me. So my question is whether to replace the recoil spring more or less right away when I get one, just to make the pistol less likely to break down if it's being used in an emergency.

The simple answer of course is why not; they don't cost that much. But I hate to be wasteful, and the small cost adds up when multiple pistols are involved.

What I want to know is, is there any way of telling whether a recoil spring is to the point it should be replaced if you don't know how many rounds the pistol has fired? I assume there isn't, but maybe there is a way.

One way of course is if parts start breaking... But I'd rather not find out in that way.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
