People can be against hunting, but when they try to force their ideals on the rest of us is when I have a problem with it. People have been hunting for their food since we evolved from monkeys. It's natural and there's nothing ethically wrong with it (when done legally in the US, anyway).
Also, the deer population in many areas is kept in check by hunting. If there's no hunting, the deer would be overcrowded, disease ridden, and suffer. And the fees hunters pay for their hunting license goes in part to conserve the wildlife and the forests.
I personally don't like trophy hunting, but it doesn't bother me that some people do. But even in those cases, it's usually illegal to leave the meat to rot. The real purpose of hunting in the US is for the meat.
I think you may be from the UK? Where people may be against fox hunting? That's a tougher argument, and I can understand how some may be against it. I don't know for sure, but it seems that they wouldn't allow fox hunting unless it is to keep the population in check. I've read some stories from the UK where rabid foxes have attacked people in the city. Hunting would reduce that. And there is the fact that your country has a long tradition of fox hunting, and tradition is often more important than some people's feelings. The citizens of the UK are losing their country and their traditions to the immigrants, and you've got to preserve what you can.

so maybe he has a thing for not killing, although he does eat meat. |
Compare hunting to the cows in a factory feedlot, which spend the last few months of their lives knee deep in their own waste, being fed food their bodies would normally reject, being injected with hormones and chemicals that are far from natural. Or the chickens in a typical factory chicken farm - they have horrible lives.
If the protestor is a vegan, at least they stick 100% to their ideology, but it still isn't natural. Humans evolved to be omnivores. There are conflicting reports on whether being vegan is healthy. There are certain nutrients that can ONLY be obtained from animal products.
One last thing: factory crop farming is not good for the environment. It strips the topsoil and pumps the remaining dust with petrochemical fertilizers and herbicides. So if the answer is that everyone should be vegan, that's not going to help the earth. And it's definitely not natural.

What do you say to anti hunter?
